Telford and Wrekin Council for Voluntary Service (CVS) & Telford Race, Equality and Diversity Partnership - Improving Reach Project

Background Information

In early 2008 Telford and Wrekin Council for Voluntary Service (TWCVS) and Telford Race Equality and Diversity Partnership (TREDP) submitted a partnership bid to the Capacity Builders Improving Reach Programme.  They were successful with this bid and have secured three years’ funding for their joint project with TWCVS as the lead body.

TWCVS and TREDP have a history of working in partnership and are both members of the Telford Voluntary Sector Infrastructure Consortium which supported this bid.

Purpose of the Project

The purpose of the project is to develop the capacity of the Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) and the Rural Voluntary and Community Sector (Third Sector).  The key areas of work would be around developing funding advice/support, strengthen and improving quality systems through the Practical Quality Assurance System for Small Organisations (PQASSO).  Groups will be encouraged to work together and support one another in these areas of development through peer learning and mentoring.

In addition the two organisations TWCVS and TREDP would develop their own capacity to deliver capacity building support to these two priority groups.  This will involve both partners to gain accreditation through PQASSO.  To achieve this all the staff appointed to the project will undertake the PQASSO Mentoring Training.

Within the partnership the focus of TWCVS would be on rural capacity building and TREDP would focus on BME capacity building.
