1. Reporting Hate Crime and HarassmentI
If you experience hate incidents and crimes then you can report it directly to the Police.
If it is an emergency then call 999. Otherwise call 0300 333 3000.
If you don't want to go to the Police for any reason, you can still report Hate Crime and get help by:
- calling the free 24-hour Stop Hate line 0800 138 1625;
- contacting 01952 210559;
- going to a local reporting centre (details will be available shortly); or
- calling for confidential and independent support
It is important to report hate crime and harassment because we believe that no-one deserves to be treated this way and the perpetrators do not deserve to get away with it. By reporting it, agencies such as ourselves, the Police, local authorities and other organisations can help individuals and families to deal with incidents. We can also use information to make communities safer for people to live, work and study.

2. Partners Against Hate Crime and Harassment (PAHCH)
Telford Race, Equality and Diversity Partnership and the Safer and Stronger Communities Partnership identified, in 2006, the 2006, the need for agencies to work together to tackle problems of hate crime and harassment by developing a multi-agency strategy. This led, in 2007, to the formation of Partners Against Hate Crime and Harassment )PAHCH). PAHCH is a forum of various organisations who work together to tackly the problem of hate crime in Telford and Wrekin. The purpose of PAHCH is to encourage reporting of hate crimes and provide advice and support to the victims. All criminal justice agencies and other key organisations are involved in the forum and together they provide a united front. PAHCH is committed to responding pro-actively to hate crime incidents and working towards a fairer and tolerant society.

3. Hate Crime Conference/Events 2009
In February 2009 PAHCH hosted a conference on the difficult and complex issue of understanding and tackling hate crime and harassment and the challenges it presents.
The full report from the Hate Crime Conference can be read by clicking here
Also in February 2009 a workshop was held on Hate Crime and Bullying for People with Learning Disabilities.
Many people with learning disabilities experience hare crime and bullying and want this to stop. Below is a case study of how this can affect them (* name changed to protect identity):
" Ann* had lived contentedly in her maisonette for either years. She had friends on the street, plenty of visitors and a well-tended garden that was her pride and joy. Then a new neighbour moved in upstairs and the name-calling started - "spastic", "mad woman", "idiot". Sometimes to Ann's face, other times shouted frm a window for all to hear. She has had fox faeces smeared on her front door. she has become afraid of inviting people round - even peple who were once frequent visitors."
Ann* is one of thousands of people with learning disabilities for whom hate crime and bullying is a daily reality, an unending nightmare.

4. TREDP Hate Crime Resources Catalogue
This catalogue has been produced by Telford Race, Equality and Diversity Partnership as part of its Hate Crime and Harassment Project funded by the Equality and Human Rights Commission.
We hope it will prove to be a useful resource for all those working in the hate crime and harassment arena locally and regionally.
The information we have gathered has come from a variety of sources and we wish to thank all those organisations from across the country who supported us by sending DVD’s or training packages etc. However it is not exhaustive and there may be other items of information etc that could be included.
